Howard tries to talk the Arctic Circle into adopting a sharing schemeThe penguins have been sharing stuff with the wrong people...cetaceans!

This series is based on a real organisation that allows you to share stuff. Sharehood - a way to share things with people in your neighbourhood so you don't end up buying so much stuff you really don't need. Like leafblowers. Actually, why even borrow a leafblower? What's wrong with a rake?Anyone need to borrow a cricket bat ‘n’ ball, a very old drill, or Penelope (a pink bicycle)?

penguin on a peak oil bump

back of envelope sketch of peak oil

An article in The Guardian suggests that the UK government is becoming alarmed over peak oil.

Particularly of note:

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is also refusing to hand over policy documents about “peak oil” – the point at which oil production reaches its maximum and then declines – under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act, despite releasing others in which it admits “secrecy around the topic is probably not good”.

I wouldn’t mind them being secretive about it if I thought that real action was being taken to shift to a less oil-based society (see the transition town movement).
