Midge Bristol #1 in Scientriffic Magazine

Being syndicated doesn’t cover all my bills (eg. traveling to the Reubens), so I do a fair bit of freelance work on the side. One of my favourite new clients is Scientriffic magazine, who gave me a whole page to have fun with. The result is “Midge Bristol Investigates” and the first episode is in the Jul-Aug issue. I can’t put the full thing up here yet, but you can see the black and white version (and colour it in!) on the CSIRO website.

Great article in the Guardian about how Met Office data shows the dramatic warming in the Arctic and worldwide.

Climate change scientists have started a fightback against sceptics who argue that the observed changes in the Earth’s climate can largely be explained by natural variability. This comes after the email hacking furore.

A major Met Office review of more than 100 scientific studies tracking the observed changes in the Earth’s climate system finds that it is an “increasingly remote possibility” that human activity is not the main cause of climate change.

Rejected Boffin Humour

I recently scored a lovely little gig for a teaching magazine and I’m in the process of doing my second cartoon for them. The first two roughs were rejected and this one rightly so – on reflection, it would only appeal to those who were traumatised by their chemistry practical lab work like me. Those who remember that every test seemed to require production of a crystalline white solid instead of the murky brown liquid that was the actual result.
