As discussed, I’ve posted a piece on your cartoon on my blog, and I also linked to your site from my home page. I hope it promotes your work. I so much enjoy the strip; and I liked the video on how to live sustainably in a flat (apartment, as they say here in Canada!)

I just started reading your comic trip as a feature on my other regular subscriptions and was immediately addicted to it (Ahem!) and subscribed to it. The strip is hilarious especially since I am myself working on green buildings and climate change here in India. So the humour is actually “cool”. Awesome fun. Cheers!

I was on Sherpa once (for a different cartoon) – a very supportive community at the time.

“It would be interesting to do a survey of the percentage of female cartoonists who send their work into syndicates versus the percentage who use Comics Sherpa versus that of stand alone web cartooning.

The web does seem like a more nurturing, supportive and community-based environment for up and coming cartoonists and perhaps that kind of environment is more attractive to women.

On the print side, enough female cartoonists have broken into newspaper comics that editors are not feeling obliged to replace Cathy with a female-authored strip. We are still under-represented, but we aren’t the novelty that we were when Cathy made her debut.”

Your survey idea is a good one. Also, if I may, a small correction: GoComics is the main U/U comics site; Comics Sherpa is a slice of the U/U site that posts comic strips/panels for a fee. I did not enter GoComics via Comics Sherpa, though I believe at least two female (and a few male) cartoonists have.
